How are capacitor banks wired for a Main Tie Main installation?

Issue:
A customer has a Main Tie Main system and needs to know how the capacitor banks are wired to properly correct power factor for this type of setup.

Product Line:
Powerlogic PFC

Resolution:
Below is an example of how the CT's should be wired for a Main Tie Main installation.  Each capacitor bank will need to have (2) CT's.  One CT will be right after the main incoming breaker with X1 facing the main breaker.  The second CT will be right before the tie breaker with X1 facing the tie breaker.  The CT for the tie breaker is necessary so the capacitor bank can correctly monitor energy coming from the second main through the tie breaker when it is closed. It is very important to make sure the polarities of these CT's are correct for each capacitor bank or else the unit may not correct each side properly.  The CT for the Main and CT for the Tie will have opposite polarity.
