What do the different coloured curves represent in the Curves and Selectivity window in EcoSet Design?

The coloured curves in the Curves and Selectivity window represent the time-current characteristics of the selected protective devices, such as circuit breakers.

Each curve illustrates how a protective device responds to different levels of overload or fault current, showing the time required for the device to trip at a given current level.

The graph helps users to:

  • Compare the behaviour of upstream and downstream protective devices.
  • Verify protection coordination between devices.
  • Identify overlapping or conflicting tripping regions.
  • Evaluate selectivity and discrimination performance.
  • Analyze circuit breaker operating characteristics.

A unique colour is assigned to each protective device, enabling users to easily identify and distinguish the corresponding protection curves on the graph.

By comparing these curves, engineers can ensure that faults are cleared by the appropriate device while maintaining system continuity and protection selectivity.
