What is the difference between the Harmonics Analyzer Module and the Harmonics Measurement Module in the ION8600?

Issue
End user would like to know the difference between the Harmonics Analyzer Module and the Harmonics measurement modules to decide which options work best when calculating harmonics onboard the ION8600 and ION8650 meters.

Product Line
ION86XX Meters

Environment
ION Framework

Cause
The Harmonics Analyzer Module and the Harmonics Measurement Modules use similar but different methods of calculation for harmonics

Resolution
The Harmonics Analyzer Module in the ION8600 (V33x) displays all outputs as a percentage of the fundamental.
At steady-state with stationary and narrow-band harmonics, the Harmonics Analyzer Module and the Harmonics Measurement Module should provide very similar results.

The Harmonics Analyzer Module computes harmonic magnitudes (displayed as a percent of fundamental) based on a single cycle captured once every two seconds. Each magnitude has a bandwidth equal to the fundamental frequency (50 or 60 Hz). Module reports up the 63rd harmonic.

The Harmonics Measurement Module (with only the source input linked and setup for TVS aggregation of Harmonics) will compute harmonic magnitude and phase information. The measurements are based on 3 seconds of data and updated every 3 seconds (gap less measurement). Each output has a bandwidth of 15Hz. The module's TVS operation was designed to IEC 1000-4-7 ED 1. Module reports up the 40th harmonic.
