Issue summary:
The issue which P5 cannot communication with another device occurs when the customer’s device is configured with IP address in the 90.xx.xx.xx range and subnet mask 255.0.0.0.
The detailed explanation:
the P5 relay’s mini-USB port is set to IP 90.0.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. When the PC with IP address 90.xx.xx.xx sends a ping to the P5 relay, the P5 relay interprets this as being on the same subnet as the USB port. It then attempts to send the response through the USB interface instead of the rear ethernet port where the request was actually received. This prevents the PC from properly communicating with the P5 relay via the rear ethernet port.
Proposed Solutions:
• Suggest changing the customer’s IP address range to avoid starting with 90.x.x.x, ensuring it doesn’t conflict with the USB interface.
Action for prevent future occurrence:
• Update the user manual to include a limitation: “The P5 relay’s IP address must not start with ‘90’ due to conflict with the USB interface.”
• Implement a firmware limitation in the tool: Block the user from setting an IP address starting with 90 to prevent this issue occurring.
Please contact the P5 Technical Support if you are still having problems connecting to your relay.
