Issue

A recently installed PM8000 meter opens the default ION diagram instead of the correct one when navigating to it in the Web Applications Diagrams tab or the Vista network diagram.

Cause

The PM8000's meter template is newer than the installed PME version, so there isn't a matching default device diagram.

Resolution

*Warning: This article contains information about editing the registry. Improper changes to the registry can permanently damage the operating system. Always backup the registry before making any changes.*

The workaround below shows how to link a specific diagram instead of the default ION diagram for PM8000 meters where PME doesn't recognize the template:

1. Open Vista and navigate to the device diagram. Note the diagram name:

Locate default ION diagram name

2. Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Schneider Electric\Power Monitoring Expert\(version number)\DeviceInfo

3. Locate the registry key for the device type, then right-click > Export to save a copy as a backup:

Export registry key as backup

4. Expand the registry key for the device type.

5. Locate the entry matching the name of the diagram you want to change, found in step 1. It may be under Default Firmware, TemplateStrings, or a registry key for a specific firmware version:

Locate matching default ION diagram name in registry

6. Double-click the entry to edit it, then paste the name of the diagram you want to change it to. The example below sets it to 8000_Standard-4WYE_V4.5.0 which is the latest available device diagram for this type on this PME version:

Update the name with selected diagram

7. In Vista, navigate to the device diagram to confirm the changes:

Confirm it opens correct diagram
