Shunt release และ Undervoltage release มีหน้าที่เหมือนกัน คือ เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้สั่งให้ circuit breaker เปิดวงจร (open circuit) จากคำสั่งภายนอก เช่น phase protection, สวิทช์ปุ่มกด และอื่นๆ
- Shunt release จะทำงานเมื่อได้รับพลังงานไฟฟ้า
- Undervoltage release จะทำงานเมื่อไม่มีพลังงานไฟฟ้าจ่ายให้
