Issue:
Product Restart function on the Altivar Process Drive
Product Line:
Altivar Process Drive (ATV630, ATV930, ATV650, ATV950, ATV660, ATV960, ATV680, ATV980)
Environment:
All products of Altivar Process Drive
Cause:
N/A
Resolution:
Product Restart is a reset of drive micro-controller. This is "equivalent" to a drive physical power OFF/ON. When Product restart is activated, the drive reboots.
This function can be used to reset a fault that normally requires a drive power cycle. Instead, you use the product restart assignment function, and the drive will reboot and clear the fault (of course if fault root cause has disappeared).
To program
Set Access Level to Expert - [My Preferences] [Access Level]
Go to
[Complete settings] [Error/Warning handling] [Fault reset]
[Product Restart] rP
[Prod Restart Assign] rPA
But keep in mind that RP and RPA are the same function:
Product Reboot.
Product Restart Assignment (RPA) is the same function but can only be commanded by logic input. It cannot be commanded via Communications
If you need to do a product restart via communication, the trick is to write to the RP parameter (Logic Address - 7128).
Via communication, you write the RP parameter equal to 1, and the drive will make a product restart.
Using SoMove
It is possible to initiate a Reset when connected to the drive with SoMove by selecting Device and then Restart Device.
During the restart process the connection to the drive will be lost.
