VPIS (Hệ thống chỉ thị có điện áp - Voltage Presence Indicator System): Theo tiêu chuẩn IEC 61958, mục đích của VPIS là báo hiệu sự hiện diện của điện áp. Nếu đèn chỉ thị không sáng, không hẳn là không có điện áp (có thể do đèn đã bị cháy). VPIS là một sản phẩm tiêu chuẩn. VDS (Hệ thống phát hiện có điện áp): Theo tiêu chuẩn IEC 61243-5, mục đích của một VDS là kiểm tra sự vắng mặt của điện áp trong một thiết bị. Bộ phát hiện không bao gồm một chỉ thị tích hợp bên trong. Thay vào đó, nó có thể xuất tín hiệu thông qua một cổng ở mặt trước. Người sử dụng phải kiểm tra bộ phát hiện (bộ chỉ thị, volt kế,...) trước khi sử dụng. VDS là một sản phẩm tùy chọn.
