– Yann Fromont has taken the role of President of T&D Europe, effective as of March 16, 2020.
T&D Europe represents national associations whose members innovate smart and efficient electricity transmission and distribution systems, collectively employing over 200,000 people in Europe. The association represents technology and service providers that future-proof the grid, decarbonize power, and make clean electricity systems that are resilient and accessible to all Europeans.
Mr. Fromont, who is also Vice President of Standardization and Government Affairs in the Power Systems division at Schneider Electric thanked T&D Europe’s members for their trust and expressed his dedication to industry leadership and his vision for strengthening the power grid of tomorrow. In the context of ongoing sea change across the energy landscape, T&D Europe’s role as an industry association is key for successfully shaping the European power grids of the future.
“I believe that the energy transition is building an energy system that is electrical, digital, decentralized, and decarbonized. This will be a complex journey, dotted with political and regulatory uncertainty. It will require T&D Europe to be agile and professional, so that it can continue to be an active contributor to the European Green Deal program” he said.
With over 30 years of experience in the T&D industry, Mr. Fromont had previously served T&D Europe as Vice-President in charge of strategy and innovation. He now leads T&D Europe for the next 3 years, alongside new Deputy President Jochen Kreusel and Secretary General Diederik Peereboom. Mr. Fromont also serves as Vice Chairman of Orgalim (in the Energy & Climate Working Group) and the Cen-Cenelec Industry Advisory Forum.
