Can Lexium 28 be controlled via Modbus RS485
Full Modbus control of LXM28 is not possible because Modbus control words have not be included in the design.
However, it is possible to read and write parameters via Modbus, but it is not possible to control the drive via the Modbus channel because there are no
Modbus objects available on LXM28 for the "ControlWord" and also not available for the "ModesOfOperation"
It is possible to create some simple motion using Modbus because it is possible to write via Modbus and force the digital inputs on and off, this is covered in another FAQ.
Customers looking to control LXM28 via Magelis will need to choose a model that supports integrated CANopen master, (such as XBTGC or SCU) to control LXM28 via Magelis.
Magelis such as XBTGC and SCU are implemented into SoMachine and therefore the LXM28-PLCopen Library can be used.
