Video: Replacing the Intelligence Module in Smart‑UPS Modular Ultra 5–20 kW

Issue:
The UPS reports an intelligence module fault, communication issue or requires replacement of the intelligence module as part of troubleshooting or maintenance.

Product Line:
APC Smart‑UPS Modular Ultra 5 kW, 10 kW, 15 kW, and 20 kW

Environment:
UPS Models that begin with SRYL5K up to SRYL20K
All Serial Numbers

Cause:
The intelligence module may need replacement due to hardware failure, communication errors, or as part of service maintenance.

Resolution:
The Smart‑UPS Modular Ultra uses user-replaceable Intelligence Module part number: SRYLIM.
It is hot‑swappable when replaced one at a time without shutting down the UPS.
NOTE: Do not remove both Intelligence Modules from the UPS frame at the same time. The UPS will drop the connected load.

Intelligence Module Replacement Steps:

• Remove the front bezel located beside the display.
• Loosen the thumb screw, then slide it to the left to release the module.
• Pull the intelligence module out of the UPS.
• Slide the replacement intelligence module fully into the slot.
• Tighten the thumb screw to secure the new module.
• Reinstall the front bezel.
