Are the communicating shunt trip and close coils for the Masterpact continuous-duty or momentary?

Published date: 30 April 2020

Issue:
Is the communicating shunt trip and close coil for the Masterpact continuous-duty or momentary?

Product Line:
Circuit breakers

Environment:
Masterpact NW NT, Powerpact P R

Resolution:
Constant voltage must be supplied to terminal C3
Voltage may be applied continuously to terminal C2, but  the plunger will only extend for 0.5 seconds and then retract.
The coil may be operated via Modbus commands, but operation will also only be momentary.  It is not possible to keep the coil energized with Modbus.

The plunger on the non-communicating device will stay extended as long as voltage is applied to its terminals.
