Issue

The purpose of this resolution is to provide Advantys STB users with the means to determine current requirements
in their STB Island and help select which current sources are required.

The goal is to help simplify power component selection for an Island.

Bus current requirements of STB Island modules and bus current supplying module capabilities are listed in
this document. There is also a field device load totalizer that may be used to determine the number of PDT
modules required.

After Island bus current requirements are totaled, If the NIM module bus current capability is exceeded, it may be augmented by the following current sources:

End of Segment - Beginning of Segment combinations. These cable linked modules are used when Islands
served by a single network communicating NIM are separated, or when additional bus current is required.
The BoS module serves as a new source of bus current.

A CPS2111 Auxiliary Power Supply can be added serially with I/O modules to extend the Island.

Just as an Island requires a NIM plus one or more STBPDTx modules to supply field power, these bus current sources must also be followed in an Island configuration by one or more of these power distribution modules (PDM).
