Issue
While in PME Web Reports there appears an error "There was a problem sending the command to the program." after attempting to export to an Excel document
Product Line
PME 7.2.x, 8.0
Environment
PME 7.2.x, 8.0
Cause
When you select Export to Excel in PME Web Reports, a dynamic data exchange (DDE) message is sent to Excel. This message instructs Excel to open the workbook that you double-clicked.
If you select the "Ignore" option, Excel ignores DDE messages that are sent to it by other programs. Therefore, the DDE message that is sent to Excel by Windows Explorer is ignored, and Excel cannot export the data to a workbook file.
Resolution
1. Open Microsoft Excel
2. Click the Microsoft Office button in the top left corner and select Excel Options
3. Select the Advanced tab on the left
4. Scroll down to the General Section and uncheck "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)"
