How to interpret the front panel error status code on a PM5500 - (Wrench icon)
The meter's front panel status code is displayed in hexadecimal without a full explanation of what the hexadecimal value represents.

Use the following instructions to decipher the status code. In this example, the status reads "0021 hex".
- Convert the hexadecimal value to binary.
| 0021 | = | 0000 0010 0001 |

- Determine which Bits are a "1" or high.

| Bit 11-16 | Bit 10 | Bit 09 | Bit 08 | Bit 07 | Bit 06 | Bit 05 | Bit 04 | Bit 03 | Bit 02 | Bit 01 |
In this example, Bit 01 and Bit 06 are high.
- Apply the Bitmap found in the Modbus Register List at Register 20003.
Bit 02 = RAM Failure
Bit 03 = NVRAM Failure
Bit 04 = RTC Failure
Bit 05 = Calibration Failure
Bit 06 = Clipping Detected
Bit 07 = Over-Running Energy Pulse Output
Bit 08 = Inp Mtr Diag Rate Exceeded/Backup RAM failure
Bit 09 = Lang File Mismatch
Bit 10 = Lang String Mismatch
Bit 11-16 Not Used
Therefore, this device appears to be having a clipping issue, and the customer must evaluate the voltage and current inputs to confirm they are within the meter's specification.
Note: an error code of 0011 denotes a calibration failure. In this scenario, the meter should be returned as part of the RMA process.
