FGEN Function Block Status

• FGEN is obsolete in Control Expert and was not migrated to RemoteConnect Logic Editor or SCADAPack, as it originates from an outdated library.
• While still available as a standalone in Control Expert 16.2, it is not supported with RemoteConnect to avoid legacy practices.

Alternative

• Use a derived function block (shared for reference only) to generate random numbers.

Derived Block Features

• Generates random numbers within a specified range.
• Output type: Integer or Float (only one active at a time).
• Range limits:
  • Integer: LowLimit to HighLimit
  • Float: FloatLowLimit to FloatHighLimit
• Selection:
  • floatout = 0 → Integer output
  • floatout ≠ 0 → Float output
