Why do we need the chinese font.!
Because more and more machine-builders in Holland are exporting there machines to china.
It looks like that China will become an interesting market.
I have had several questions from customers if we can manage the chinese font.
For the machine builder exporting to china it is very handy if he can easily make chinese text on the terminal.

Because we do not manage chinese font on the xbt, I tried something else.
1. First of all I installed the Chinese Unicode font on my PC.
2. Then I installed a special 'Word97 Chinese Input Macro' wich I found on the web.

With this macro it is possible to create chinese characters in a word document.
3. I start XBT-L1003 en make a OLE link to Word.
In Word I make some chinese text with this macro.
4. 'Closing' Word I expect the chinese characters as an image in xbt-l1003.
Unfortunately this is not happening. NO chinese caracters.

Is it due to xbtl1003 that it is not possible to have chinese caracters with the macro ??
Do you know a solution for the problem I described above.??

Chninese fonts
XBTL1000

As you say, it's not possible to enter chinese characters in XBTL1000.
Why:
XBTL1000 uses the same fame fonts as the Run time (function WYSIWYG). So, a dedicated font with chinese characters has to be created, which is not the case today.
Furthermore, the quantity of chinese characters is about 40 000. It's possible to reduce to 5000 characters. Today, our fonts hold 255 characters (one byte). So, XBTL1000 and the Run Time should be able to manage bigger fonts on two bytes. ( very heavy ).

However , in the project "COMETE" (new alphanumerical range) , the chinese fonts will be implemented , and available on matrix screen terminals. ( launching -> End of 2002 ).
