PlantStruxure PES [V4.1]: Migrating PES Version and Operating System from 32bit to 64bit
One instance of the error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is related to the migration of a PES system created in a 32 bit environment to a newer version of PES installed in a 64 bit environment. It is not possible to make the transition of 32 bit to 64 bit as part of the standard migration process transitioning from one PES version to another.
For example a database created in a 32 bit environment, using PES V4.0SP1 must first be upgrade to PES V4.0SP1 installed on a 64 bit Operating System. To do this, in the 32 bit installation of PES export all templates, application, topology, and projects (must be built). Now in a 64 bit environment, still with PES V4.0SP1, in a blank database import all the exported components.
The database can then be migrated in the usual manner (prepair database for migration, install V4.1, restore database for migration). If you require assistance to complete this process, please contact support.
