Resolution:
If your SoMachine project is password protected, double clicking it will give the error "You have selected an encrypted project file" and you won't be able to open this project.
What you should do is open SoMachine then click on 'Open project' and point to your password protected project.
SoMachine will then ask you for your password twice, before letting you open the project.
