Getting the number 2,147,483,647 in Energy Modbus Register readings
Issue: I´m getting number 2,147,483,647 in the Energy Modbus registers.
Product Line: ION8650 Series
Environment: PowerLogic Revenue meters
Cause: Settings in the meter.
Resolution: The energy registers in the ION8650 are data type INT32 (Signed Integer 32bit IEEE) and the max number that can be represented with that data type is 2,147,483,647. This are 2,147 Millions.
By default, some of the meters have a Default Rollover Value of 0. This disables the rollover feature. In this case the meter will continue to accumulate energy until it hits the Maximum Energy Value.
The recommended action is to set the rollover value at 10 millions to avoid losing any resolution of the energy accumulate value. 10 millions is the absolute limit imposed by the 32bit IEEE register format without loss of resolution on the stored number.
