How to set ViewX to generate a full Dump file
Note: This article shows how to change Windows Registry keys to help troubleshooting a ViewX crash, when required by the Technical Support group. Changes to Windows Registry must be done with caution as wrong settings may cause issues to the computer.
When ViewX crashes, it generates, by default, a dump file, which is needed when investigating for the root cause of the crash. In rare cases, a customer may be requested by the Technical Support team to generate a full ViewX dump file. This article describes how to enable this type of dump file.
Exception settings for client applications are set in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\Exceptions registry key. Set "DumpType" to 7. Once the troubleshooting process is done, we recommend this key to be set back to its original value, 0. Note that the location of the dump file is in the "DumpFilePath" key.
