Control Expert DIF 16.0 Compatibility Requirements and Limitations
Control Expert DIF 16.0 requires a compatible EcoStruxure Control Expert version installed on the same PC to function correctly. Compatibility depends on the installed Control Expert version and file type.
Issue
Users may face limitations when using Control Expert DIF 16.0 to compare project files across different versions.
- DIF cannot function without a compatible Control Expert version installed locally
- Newer project files may not open or compare correctly
- Comparison may fail if newer features are present in the project
- Older project versions may not be supported in DIF 16.0
- Encrypted or incompatible file formats may prevent comparison
- Validated versions include Control Expert 16.0, 16.2, and 16.3
Resolution
Ensure that the correct Control Expert version is installed and that project files meet compatibility requirements.
Steps to resolve:
- Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 on the target machine.
- Install EcoStruxure Control Expert 15.1 or a later supported version on the same PC.
- Verify that the project file can be opened using the installed Control Expert version.
- Ensure the project file does not include features from newer unsupported versions.
- For projects created in versions earlier than 15.1, use Control Expert DIF 14 instead of DIF 16.0.
