How to Launch Web Pages That Require Java Plugin in Windows 11?

This procedure explains how to access legacy web applications that require the Java plugin on Windows 11 using Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer Mode.

• Select the 3 dots (...) (1).
• Select Settings (2).

• Navigate to Default Browser by searching Internet Explorer (3).
• Enable Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) (4).
• Click Add a page (5)

• Enter the URL of the trusted web application (6)
• Click Add (7)

• Install Java SE Runtime Environment v8 (must be x86-bit)
• Open the Configure Java (8)

• Select the Security (9) tab.
• Click Edit Site List (10).
• Add the URL of the trusted web application (11).
• Select Add (12),
• Select Continue (13) in the Security Warning window
• Select OK (14) in the Exception Site List window
• Select OK (15) in the Java Control Panel window

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Enter the URL of the Java-based application.
• Select the check box (16)
• Click Run (17)

• Log in if required.
