With the release of Geo SCADA 2025, changes have been made to Geo SCADA mobile to allow new functionality. Users will now have the ability to view trends and mimics via the Geo SCADA Mobile app running on their iOS/Android phone/tablet.
With this new functionality, comes a requirement for change to any existing Geo SCADA Mobile configuration.
When customers upgrade to Geo SCADA 2025, Geo SCADA Mobile users will need to re-register their devices in the Geo SCADA Mobile app.
When the updated app (version 2.9176.2) is installed on a user’s phone/tablet, the Device ID will change. This means that all Device ID’s that are configured in the Geo SCADA Mobile Configurator will need to be updated.
(Note: the Device ID is shown on the connection screen in the Geo SCADA mobile app on the phone/tablet)
Below is an example of updating a device:
1) This is the original list of devices. I’ll be updating the highlighted device
2) Right-click and select ‘Update Device’ from the menu
3) Enter the new Device ID (see the 3rd Mobile App screen shot at the bottom of this article)
4) The device is now re-registered and ready to be used
Once this change is made, the user should be able to use the new Geo SCADA Mobile 2025 app on their phone/tablet to connect to an existing Geo SCADA 2022 or Geo SCADA 2023 Mobile server; as well as connecting to the Geo SCADA 2025 Mobile server.
If the connection does not work right away, restart the Geo SCADA Mobile services from Windows Control Panel | Windows Tools | Services dialog and then try the connection again.
Phones that are using the updated Geo SCADA 2025 Mobile app will need to have their device ID’s re-registered. Users running the older Geo SCADA mobile app will not need to re-register their devices. It is unclear at the time of this writing whether the older version of the mobile app will connect and work properly with the Geo SCADA 2025 Mobile server.
Below are screen shots of the Geo SCADA 2025 Mobile app as connected to a Geo SCADA 2022 Mobile server.
The icon for Geo SCADA Mobile 2025 that appears on the phone/tablet has changed to this:
When launched, the setup screen appears as follows. Clicking the ‘Add Server’ button brings the user to the configuration screen:
The configuration screen shows the new Device ID (this is the new Device ID that was added at step 3 above).
Users will need to populate the ‘Name’ and ‘Address’ fields, as well as checking the ‘Allow Self Signed Certificates’ box (unless an external certificate is being used) and then click the ‘Save’ button. An example is shown below:
Users will then click the ‘Connect’ button to connect to the Geo SCADA Mobile server:
Users will then enter their PIN (press ‘OK’) followed by their logon credentials:
Once the user hits the ‘Save’ button, they will be taken to the Home screen. When connected to a Geo SCADA Mobile 2022 or Geo SCADA Mobile 2023 server, the screen will look like this:
