SCADAPack 47xi Edge Firmware Upgrade Fails with "Certificate is not yet valid"
Whenupgrading Edge firmware on a SCADAPack 474i/47xi, the installation may fail with a certificate verification error similar to the following: LastError: signature verification failed: Verify error: certificate is not yet valid
Edge firmware bundles are digitally signed, and the device verifies the signing certificate before allowing the installation to proceed. If the SCADAPack system clock is incorrect, certificate validation may fail. For example, if the device time is 01-JAN-2000 and the firmware signing certificate becomes valid on 14-JAN-2026, the firmware validation process will reject the certificate because the device believes the certificate is from the future. Since the device believes the current date is earlier than the certificate's issue date, the certificate appears to be "not yet valid." This causes RAUC signature verification to fail and prevents the firmware from being installed.
To fix this issue, use Remote Connect Online Diagnostics to set the SCADAPack's date and time correctly. After correcting the device time and retrying the installation, the firmware bundle should validate successfully and the upgrade should proceed normally.
