Why does DHCP IP address assignment fail on PMEPXM0100 when using a custom Device Name Prefix in a flat architecture?

Issue
PMEPXM0100 firmware versions 1.001 to 1.008 only support the hardcoded DHCP Device Name Prefixes Mx80 for local rack and Cxx0 for remote rack CRA. As a result, DHCP IP address assignment fails when another Device Name Prefix is configured in Control Expert.

Product Line
PMEPXM0100

Environment

  • Control Expert
  • PMEPXM0100 firmware versions 1.001 to 1.008

Resolution
As a workaround, use the Cxx0 prefix, where xx can vary from one rack to another. This prefix can also be used for PMEPXM0100 modules installed in local racks.
ProSoft identified the hardcoded prefix validation in the PMEPXM0100 firmware as the root cause.
A firmware fix is currently being developed to remove this limitation and support any valid Device Name Prefix configured in Control Expert for DHCP address assignment.
