How can I control the direction of rotation of a motor using an ATV12 / 21 or 212 range drive?
Motor rotation direction would be managed by the drive itself through its dedicated functions and operations.

Note, the reason you wouldn't simply install a reversing contactor on the up stream supply, is that the Drive Input Phase Rotation has no effect on the output phase rotation. This is due to the fact the first stage of the drive rectifies the supply voltage to DC so as the DC has no phase rotation swapping over input phases has no effect on the output rotation, you must swap the output phase cables for correct rotation.

If you are commissioning the drive / motor and this is your first test run of the motor, then the motor direction can be changed as follows :

i) Isolate the drive.
ii) Wait for the RED DC bus LED to go out (Leave it for a few minutes).
iii) Swap any 2 of the motor phases over. U,V,W.

This will change the motor direction and Logic input 1 will be 'forward' according to your application.

In Two Wire Control (which is factory default) by supplying 24Vdc to LI1 terminal ( or P24 to F on the ATV21 /212 series) the drive is designed to run in the forward direction,
To reverse this on the ATV12 and the 24Vdc is removed and then applied to LI2. but on the ATV12 you would have to assign LI2 to reverse in the FUN- menu rrS = L2H.

From the display :  RDY > CONF > FULL > FUN- > RRS     ---> change to L2H and press enter to save the value

If the drive is to be used in the Three Wire Control then the logic input change as follows LI1 becomes STOP, LI2 is run Forward and LI3 is run Reverse all this is done internally by the drive itself the only drive that would need to be changed is the ATV12 and that is rrS = L3H

On the ATV21 / 212 drive the reverse function is disabled as this drive is aimed at building installations for centrifugal pumps and fans which do not usually need a forwards and reverse direction. So usually motor direction would be altered by cable change over.
The ATV21 / 212  has three logic inputs F,R and RES,  as a default the setting for the F terminal is set in F111 (default  2 =forwards) . R is set in F112 (default 6 = preset speed 1)  and RES is set in F113.( default 10 = fault reset).
To reverse the motor on this drive F112 would be set to 3 and F311 should be set to 0 to PERMIT FORWARD and REVERSE operation to be able to run in reverse.
