How to identify the SQL Server Version and Edition?

How can I identify the SQL version being used?

Resolution

1. Open up SQL Server Management Studio. Connect to the SQL Server database.
2. Create a New Query. Type SELECT @@VERSION.
3. Run query. The output may have to be extended by dragging the column header to the right to see the full SQL Server version and edition.
