ION7650/7550 - Communications to Optical Port (COM4) are Unsuccessful

Issue:
Serial settings have been changed on the COM4 Optical port on an ION7650/7550. Settings have been confirmed on the software and PC side of the optical probe, yet communications cannot be established.

Cause:
On firmware versions other than the latest (v. 415), certain optical port settings are not actually changed even though the change appears to have taken place on both the front panel and in ION Setup.

Resolution:
Upgrade the meter to the latest firmware (v. 415). A temporary solution is to power cycle the meter which will apply the serial settings and allow communication to COM4.
