Can I run a larger hp motor with a smaller hp softstarter

Cause:
Need to up size the motor for application

Resolution;
No, it is not recommended using a smaller hp softstarter on a larger hp motor. The Softstart horsepower should match the motor and ampage should at higher than the motor rating.
