Power Monitoring Expert - the Energy Period over Period report will miscalculated energy total if an outage occurred and ION meter used 'Insert Outage Records' feature to zero fill missing readings
Issue
If an Energy Period over Period report is run against data that has had zeros inserted for missing data points, the report will miscalculate the energy totals. See attached screen capture for an example of what you might see.

Cause
Some ION meters have a setup register option in the Data Recorders that will zero-fill missing records if a power outage has occurred. From the ION Reference:
The Data Recorder module Insert Outage Records option lets you determine how the meter handles logged information after a power outage. Upon the restoration of power, the meter can determine how many logged intervals have been missed due to the power outage, and based upon this programming option, can either leave the logs missing (this is the default functionality) or can fill in the missing logs with zero values.
The report handles the outage incorrectly. kWh is an accumulated value, therefore the report calculates energy values per interval by taking the difference between the one interval reading and the previous interval. But after an outage and with zero-fill enabled the previous kWh reading will be zero. So the first value will be the entire kWh total reading on the meter which is then calculated into the hourly or daily total, depending on the aggregation period chosen.

Resolution
*Warning: Irreparable database damage can occur. This procedure should only be performed by users familiar with SQL Server Management Studio. Databases should be backed up prior to performing this procedure.*
The recommended resolution is to manually correct the zero-value data points with approximations based on the consumption pattern. Power Monitoring Expert 9.0 will include a Manual Data Editor tool that will allow this to be done relatively easily.פורסם עבור:שניידר אלקטריק ישראל
