Resolution:
You must have a valid subscription to obtain upgrade files. Check how to Manage your DCE subscription license in mySchneider Software Management.
You may need to obtain multiple files as Data Center Expert requires incremental upgrades.
If your DCE appliance is running as a virtual machine, please ensure that there is more than one hard disk on the virtual appliance. The bundled storage volume should never be expanded. A second virtual disk should be added to prevent the appliance from running out of storage during the upgrade process. Ensure that you have a valid backup of your DCE appliance. Instructions on backing up to a Windows Share can be found Video: Data Center Expert | Backing up to a Windows Share
NOTE: Backups can only be restored on the same version they are created on. If performing multiple upgrades, it is recommended to create backups after each upgrade.
1. Download the upgrade.zip files for each upgrade and verify the checksum of the upgrade zip files using a checksum validator of your choice. Depending on the version, an MD5 or SHA1 checksum will be provided for comparison on the download pages that technical support provided to you. Steps to verify the checksum can be found How do I verify the checksum of a file?
2. Login to the DCE Desktop Client with a local administrator account, select the Updates Menu, and then select Apply Server Update.
3. Select Import and navigate to the zipped upgrade file. (or extracted file for 7.9.1 or lower.) Select Open.
4. Select Install Update to start upgrading the server.
Monitor the progress of the update on the web interface of DCE.
NOTE: Upgrades usually take less than hour or a few hours depending on how large the environment; but for certain upgrades it may take significantly longer depending on the number of devices and amount of historical data.
5. When prompted for login on the web interface, log in and install the new desktop client. Instructions for downloading and installing the desktop client can be found Video: Data Center Expert | Desktop Client Requirements, Download, & Installation
NOTE: Upgrading to version 7.9.0 requires a reinstallation of software and restoring from backup due to an operating system change from CentOS to Rocky Linux. The 7.9.0 ISO and OVA files are accessible through MySchneider downloads. NOTE: Upgrading from DCE 8.3 to DCE 9.0 requires license transition from software support contracts to a subscription model.
