Cause
A user may want to use an ION meter to trigger digital output upon a phase loss

Resolution



NOTE: The functionality of the procedure requires that the nominal voltage monitored by the meter has been set in the meter.

1. Open ION Setup and connect to an ION Meter (a PM8000 meter is used in this demonstration)
As a reminder, the default User is "supervisor" and the Password is "0" for ION Setup

2. Select "Single ION device configuration mode" and click "OK"

3. Select "Ethernet", enter the IP Address of the meter, and click "OK"

4. Click "Exit" to get out of the "Setup Assistant" Screen

5. A box pops up that says: "Do you wish to connect to a different device?" - click "No"

6. Click on "View" in the task bar at the top of the screen, and select "Setup Screens"

7. Open Advanced Setup - Hold CTRL + left click on the "Ethernet Device" to open advanced setup

8. Scroll down and click on Relative Setpoint Modules folder

9. Double-click on "V1 Setpoint"

10. The Meter Password box pops up. The default password (unless it has been changed) is the number zero "0". Type "0" (without parentheses) and click "OK"

11. Select "Setup Registers" tab

12. Double-click "RSP1 Enable" and select "Enabled", and then click "OK"

13. Double-click "Eval Mode", select "Percentage", and click "OK"
"Under Pickup" and "Under Dropout" should be set to values that make sense to the customer.

Under Pickup
This register, together with the Nominal input, defines the level that the Source input must fall below (for a time specified by SusUntlON) in order for the Status output to go ON (i.e. the setpoint becomes active). If Eval Mode is set to VALUE, the level required for the Status output to go ON is given by subtracting the Under Pickup value from the Nominal value (Nominal - Under Pickup). If Eval Mode is set to PERCENTAGE, the level required for the Status output to go ON is given by:
Nominal x ( 1 - (Under Pickup/100))

For example, if the Under Pickup value is set to 25, then the status will turn on when the voltage falls below 75% of the nominal value. If it is set to 75, then the status will turn on when the voltage falls below 25% of the nominal value.

Likewise, looking at Under Dropout:

This register, together with the Nominal input, defines the level that the Source input must exceed (for a time specified by SusUntlOFF) in order for the Status output to go OFF (i.e. the setpoint becomes inactive). If Eval Mode is set to VALUE, the level required for the Status output to go OFF is given by subtracting the Under Dropout value from the Nominal value (Nominal - Under Dropout). If Eval Mode is set to PERCENTAGE, the level required for the Status
output to go OFF is given by:
Nominal x ( 1 - (Under Dropout/100))

For example, if the Under Dropout value is set to 25, then the status will turn off when the voltage rises again above 75% of the nominal value. If it is set to 75, then the status will turn on when the voltage rises again above 25% of the nominal value.

14. Once the Under Pickup and Under Dropout values have been set, Click "Send" - this updates the module.

15. Repeat steps 9-14 for "V2 Setpoint" and "V3 Setpoint"

16. Click "AND/OR Modules" in the left-hand pane

17. In the right-hand pane, right-click in the open area and select "Insert Module"

18. Right-click on the new AND/OR Module and select rename the module to "Phase Loss" and click "Send"

19. Double-click the new Phase Loss module and select the "Inputs" tab

20. Double-click "Source n:" (Where n is however many relative setpoint outputs need to be linked starting with 1)

21. Navigate to and left-click on "Relative Setpoint Modules"

22. Select "V1 Setpoint", and then select "V1 Under", and click "OK"

23. Repeat steps 19-12 for "Source 2:" and "Source 3:", selecting the corresponding "V2 Setpoint" and "V2 Under" and then "V3 Setpoint" and "V3 Under"

24. Click on "Setup Registers" in the Phase Loss window

25. Double-click on "Mode" and select "OR" this will make the output of the module turn on when any one of the under voltages is detected. Then click "Send"

26. In the left-hand pane, click "Digital Out Modules"

27. In the right-hand pane, double-click the port to link for the phase loss output. For this exercise, "Port D1" is selected

28. Select the "Inputs" tab, and double-click "Source:"

29. Select "AND/OR Modules" from the list to expand its sub-menu, and select the "Phase Loss" previously created

30. Select "AN Result" and click "OK".

31. Select the "Setup Registers" tab, and double-click the "Port".

32. Select the port to close contact upon phase loss (in this case, Port D1), and click "OK", and then click "Send".

33.  Phase Loss digital output creation is complete
