Is it possible to get data from a 3rd-Party Microsoft SQL Database into ION Enterprise's VIP?

It is sometimes desirerable to get data from a database that is not part of ION Data into ION Enterprise, so that the Arithmetic Module in the VIP can be used for calculations and reporting.

  • This is possible. Lets say, for example, the user wants to get data from a 3rd party database into VIP and then do some kind of arithmetic calculation on it.

The easiest way to do this is:
    • Move the data from SQL to Excel
    • Use an Excel OPC Server and the ION OPC Client to bring it into the VIP

NOTE: The ION OPC Client is considered 'custom', and requires an Application Engineer to configure. Please contact your Sales Representative for more information.
