Resolution:
The 120% rule allows for the maximum solar/AC battery backfeed for the top section to be 160 A total. However, to avoid submain circuit breaker nuisance tripping, limit the solar/AC backfed breaker to 120 A.
An additional 120 A can be added to the bottom section per the 120% rule, so the total is 240 A backfed. Installer will need to check with AHJ and the homeowner’s utility for the maximum interconnection agreement.
