Issue:
On my HMI Display running EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert, the String display is showing blank values or incorrect characters when reading from STRING type variables using the Schneider-MachineExpertNetwork driver reading from a Modicon M241, M251 or M262 PLC.
Product Line:
EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert
EcoStruxure Machine Expert
Environment:
HMI Configuration Software in Windows
Resolution:
For the HMI to read the STRING and WSTRING type variables via MachineExpertNetwork protocol,
- In EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert software, open your HMI project
- Navigate to the Project Explorer
- Expand Target01 > Drivers
- Select "Schneider Electric-MachineExpertNetwork*" node
- In the System Architecture page, click on the row of the Equipment (default name "MachineExpertEquipment1")
- On the far right side of the screen under the Properties box, find "String Encode" near the bottom of the list.
- In the String Encode dropdown, select "CodePage1252"
- Download the changes to your HMI (or Simulate)
ALSO NOTE: The best font to use for String Displays showing String Variables from M2xx PLCs is <LanguageName>_Gothic
