Article available in these languages: Russian

Issue
This FAQ document provides instructions on how to download the log, configuration and debug files from a 2nd generation rack power distribution unit's (PDU) network management card (NMC) by using a USB flash drive.

Product Line
  • 2G Metered/Switched Rack PDUs (AP84XX, AP86XX, AP88XX, AP89XX).

Environment
  • All serial numbers
  • Firmware revision v6.5.2 and higher

Cause
  • New Firmware functionality was implemented to allow for a quick and user friendly way to download the log, configuration and debug files from a PDU by using a USB drive connected to the NMC's USB port.
  • The log, configuration and debug files may be required for review by the technical support team.

Resolution
To download the log, configuration and debug files from a PDU by using a USB flash drive follow the steps explained below:
  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the rack PDU NMC. Before performing this step make sure the USB drive is formatted in FAT32.
  2. Scroll to the Log to Flash option on the display and press the Select button.
  3. Press the Select button again to export the files to your USB flash drive.
NOTE: If a debug.txt file or dump.txt file does not exist on the Rack PDU, they will not be downloaded to the USB flash drive. These files are only created upon an unexpected system crash or a NMC reset and are for technical support use only.

The log, configuration and debug files downloaded from the PDU NMC should look similar to the example below:

Please see FAQ FA156131 for additional ways of downloading the log, configuration and debug files from the PDU NMC.
