Singapore, 22 March, 2023 – Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced that it aims to deploy 20,000 new (Electric Vehicle) EV chargers in Singapore through its EV partners by 2030, in support of efforts to drive further EV adoption. Schneider Electric will also be working with EV charging point operators (CPOs) to offer free EV charging to users from 1st April to 30th September 2023, in conjunction with its 50th anniversary in Singapore this year.
As of December 2022, Schneider Electric has supplied some 2000 chargers in Singapore through its EV partners. In support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and to realise Singapore’s vision of 100% cleaner energy vehicles by 2040, Schneider Electric EV partners will progressively install smart EV chargers in commercial, industrial and residential buildings islandwide - making it more convenient and efficient for EV users.
The smart EV chargers to be installed will come from Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure for eMobility suite of products which were recently launched in Singapore. The smart EV chargers (known as “EVlink Pro AC” and “EVlink Home”) are designed to be reliable and user-friendly, that can be installed quickly in commercial, industrial or residential buildings.
Building owners that install the smart EV chargers within their premises can also benefit from Schneider Electric’s IOT-enabled “EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert” - an on-site load management system that dynamically distributes real-time available power in the building to charge EVs, while avoiding peak hours and integrating renewable energy. With better monitoring and control of power supplied at charging points, facility managers can be assured that electrical power within buildings is maintained and not disrupted. The move will therefore serve to strengthen Singapore’s EV infrastructure and support the growth of e-mobility in Singapore.
“As the digital transformation leader for sustainability and efficiency, Schneider Electric is committed to supporting Singapore’s strong push to electrify its vehicle population as highlighted by the Transport Ministry recently in Parliament. Having more charging points by 2030, will make Singapore’s charging infrastructure more robust and accessible. With more charging points, it is also critical for stakeholders to address load management issues that come with increasing electricity demand and this is where the EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert can help to ensure reliability and efficiency,” said Yoon Young Kim, Cluster President, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, Schneider Electric. “As Schneider Electric marks 50 years in Singapore, we are also delighted to be extending free charging to users alongside our EV partners, and will continue to do our part to promote e-mobility in support of a net zero future.”
From 1st April 2023, Schneider Electric will offer close to 120,000 kWh worth of free charging, or approximately 3000 full charges1, to users who charge their EVs using Schneider Electric’s
EV chargers that are operated and maintained by participating charging point operators (CPOs) and partners islandwide. EV users would be able to activate free charging when accessing the participating CPO’s mobile applications.
Participating CPOs such as SP Group, Charge+, MNL Asia, Busways and EVOne will enable free charging to users from 1st April to 30th September 2023, or until the 120,000 kWh is utilised, whichever is earlier.
