KM1 is main contactor. It use for switching the power energy to soft starter
KM3 is by-pass contactor. It use for by-pass the power line direct to motor without the power part of soft starter (protection part of soft starter still connected) to reduce energy losing in soft starter.
Please refer to the wiring diagram of ATS 48: Non-reversing with line contactor, bypass, freewheel or controlled stop, type 1 coordination as below detail.
