Customer would like to know how to define and set up Hysteresis (Deadband) in the Setpoint Module.

Cause
In the Setpoint module, there are parameters in Setup Registers like High Limit, Low Limit, Eval Mode, GREATERTHAN, LESSTHAN, SusUntlON, and SusUntlOFF which might be confusing. If we want to define any operational Hysteresis in order to avoid counting multiple events, we need to clarify the above Registers in each GREATERTHAN or LESSTHAN Evaluation Mode accordingly.

Resolution
Deadband is a region where the system does not respond to changes. In order to add Hysteresis or Deadband in the Setpoint module's Setup Registers correctly, first we need to clarify the behavior of the Source input value that is going to be monitored.

For example, if the Source input is a kind of Voltage value, then it needs to be monitored for both over-voltage and under-voltage events that means two separate Setpoint Modules, one with Eval Mode = GREATERTHAN and the other with Eval Mode = LESSTHAN should be configured.

For better understanding, the following illustrations will show how to add desired Hysteresis or Deadband in both GREATERTHAN and LESSTHAN states of Eval Mode.

Hysteresis when Eval Mode is GREATERTHAN
In this picture, since we are monitoring the Over limit Laude like the 'Over Voltage' value, we need to select Eval Mode as GREATERTHAN in that Setpoint Module. If the High Limit value = Low Limit value then when the magnitude of parameters oscillates around the High Limit value, it will create multiple events and alarms will cause confusion and distress for operators and will fill up system events SQL tables.

Therefore adding the desired deadband area will avoid multiple events and alarms by assigning different values to High Limit and Low Limit parameters. The differential between High and Low Limits effectively produces a programmable level of operational Hysteresis or Deadband. Hatched area in the pictures.
You can add some seconds to SusUntlON or SusUntlOFF as shown with x or y in seconds. In this case, a change of state in the 'Status Output Register' will appear after that added delayed time.

Accordingly, you will have the same configuration when you are monitoring the Low Limit value(like Under Voltage), that 'Status Output Register' changes from OFF to ON when the 'Source Input'(Red Line) falls below the Low Limit Value as shown in image below:
Hysteresis when Eval Mode is LESSTHAN
In this picture, you need to select Eval Mode as LESSTHAN in that Setpoint Module.
