Why the Selection table of Capacitor bank + Reactor + Contactor show only a contactor without Damping Resistor ?
Customer inquiry that the Contactor shown in the selection table as below is a model without a Damping Resistor unit and need to know about the selection when the unit is equipped.
When you are using a detuned reactor you need not to use a capacitor duty contactor ( contactor with Damping Resistor).
You can use a normal power contactor. Detuned reactors impedance limits the inrush current during switching hence capacitor duty contactor is not required.
Capacitor duty contactor is needed for the switching of capacitors only. But in this case, you have detuned reactors in series with capacitors. So the customer should not be worried about capacitor duty contactors.
