Goals and Symptoms

We've applyed ATS48D32Q on thread cutting lathe drive. In special case, they need immediate reverse. With dynamic braking we were able to stop device for 3-5 sec, because of high inertia. But this is too long time for this application. Now, Is it possible provide immediate reverse by the switch reverse line or by-pass contactor if ATS is in run mode? May we try it without damage power parts?

The ATS don't respond to this application, I propose you to use an ATV with braking resistor. You can also stop the motor in free wheel mode , inverse a motor phase ( see user manual ) and restart the motor with a long acceleretion ramp ( adjust the current limitation )
