How to release latched contacts on the VAMP 321 relay

Issue

The protection elements on the VAMP 321 relay are configured to latch upon initialization and require manual reset.

Environment

• VAMP 321 relay in operation
• VAMPset configuration software installed and connected to the relay

Cause

The protection elements are set to latch during startup or after a trip event, requiring manual release to restore normal operation.

Resolution

The latched contacts can be released using either the VAMP 321 front panel or the VAMPset software.

Option 1: Release from the VAMP 321 Front Panel

1. Navigate through the relay’s front screen menu.
2. Locate the output matrix or latch release menu.
3. Execute the command to release (reset) the latched outputs.

Option 2: Release via VAMPset Software

1. Open VAMPset and connect to the VAMP 321 relay.
2. Navigate to RELEASE OUTPUT MATRIX LATCHES.
3. Set Release Latches to Release.
4. Write (upload) the configuration changes to the relay.
