What purpose does the fuse of BMXDDI3202 and BMXDDI6402 serve or protect? and is the information in User manual just an illustration or a mandatory requirement?

4. Resolution

This fuse protects both the module and customer power supply. It protects the DDI module when there’s over voltage applied to module. And it protects the sensor power supply in case of the happening of short circuit malfunction inside the module. Since that it’s strongly recommended to apply this fuse.
