Assetlink does not show the objects to generate and shows an error “File Watcher” in the generation tab

As part of object generation in ASP using the Assetlink tool, the required patterns need to be selected and the same needs shown under the pattern list tab. But, in some scenarios, Assetlink does not show the objects to generate, or detect the patterns and shows an error “File Watcher” in the generation tab.
This knowledge base article explains the root cause and steps to be followed for resolving the issue
The rootcause of the issue is that assetlink tool did not get installed correctly. This can be due to many reasons like the previous version was not removed before the latest was installed, the wrong asp version has been used etc.

Two additional check need to be done to confirm the same
1.Open the assetlink instance and check the generation tab.
Users can see as shown below “File Watcher”


2. Navigate to the Information Tab.
It does not show the information about the version, logs as shown below

Now it can confirm that it’s an installation issue
This can be fixed by doing following steps
1)    Uninstall all the assetlink versions including the updates.
2)    Install the EcoStruxure Control Expert - Asset Link V3.0
3)    Restart machine
4)    Install the EcoStruxure Control Expert - Asset Link V3.0 hotfix RTM84402(if required)
5)    Open Aveva system platform and import the Aseetlink template
6)    Confirm the Version 6483 in the information tab
7)    Now user should be able to see the objects to be generated.
