Vista/Designer - Connection Timed Out Error

Issue

After an in-place upgrade, opening Vista yields a connection timed out error.

Cause

The services are unable to connect with the server. They lack the permissions necessary to interact with the application and the host server. This can be caused by local policies on the computer and/or network.

Resolution

Elevate the ION services to local system from local service.

1. Open the Windows Services by opening services.msc from the Windows Search bar.
2. Right click on the ION service.

3. Select Properties. Select the log on as Tab. Tick Log on as Local System Account.

Remember that changes do not take effect until the service is restarted. If changing the services en massse, restarting the server may be faster than individually restarting all the services.
