Ecostruxure Process Expert for ASP[2023]: How to resolve ASP runtime communication failure Between $aMessageBox GPL Template Object and NUA Module

This knowledge base helps the user, when he faces the below issue in customer project using GPL SA Library -$aMessageBox template and NUA Pattern configuration.

After deployment, during runtime screen verification, it was observed that the generated instance was unable to communicate with the PLC and Aveva runtime screen.

Refer below details for more information,

In the Data Editor, the value displayed as Bad Value.

To resolve this communication failure issue, $MessageBoxCE template need to be modified.

Procedure to update the $MessageBoxCE ASP template to resolve issue faced while using NUA communication:

  1. Navigate to $MessageBoxCE template in the derivation view and open the template
  2. Navigate to the script tab and select the Named Script ‘Status’.
  3. In Status Script choose Execution type as OnScan.
  4. In Line number 35, 36 and 37 change ipos to ipos1 as shown in the below screen shot.

5.Then in the named scripts ‘MSGString’, ‘MSG1String’ and ‘MSG2String’, change the Trigger Type to DataChange as shown in below screen shots.

6. Save, close and check in the changes. Deploy the updated instances.

After template update and Deployment user able to see the healthy communicated popup in runtime.

This Issue is noted in EPEFASP2023 version. But its applicable to all the versions of Ecostruxure Process Expert Aveva System Platform.
