How to timestamp variables included in a report provided by a BMENOP0300 IEC61850 communication module ?
Issue:
How to timestamp a variable included in a report provided by a BMENOP0300 IEC61850 communication module, configured as a server ?
Product Line:
BMENOP0300 IEC61850 communication module
Environment:
EcoStruxure Control Expert V16.2, Windows 10/11
Resolution:
Following the IEC61850 standard, a variable ( = Data Object or DO) contains the timestamp Data Attribute (DA) : "t" .
It can generally be updated when its linked variable status change, by one of the following three (3) methods :
1. Automatic Timestamp
- The module automatically assigns the time value(Data Attribute “t”) of the variable based on its internal clock.
- The internal clock can be synchronized with an external time source viaNTP (if enabled) or will use CPU time.
2. Manual Timestamp
- The user manually inserts the time value into theData Attribute “t” of the variable through:
- The PLC program
- Device DDT
- In this case, the "t" attribute must be included in the module’s I/O mapping.
3. Using ERT/CRA Timestamp
- Timestamping can be performed via the ERT/CRA module using the SOE function.
- Refer to the BMENOP0300 user manual (page 137) for more details.
Implementation Notes
To useOption 1 (Automatic Timestamp), do NOT include the variable “t” in the server I/O mapping of the module.
Example: Variable AlmTOut
- Only its value stVal is included in the I/O mapping . Not "t".
- It is essential to include the Data Attribute “t” of this variable in the report dataset so that it is updated by the module during report generation.
- Insert the Data Object “AlmTOut” in the report dataset, by selecting both:
- t
- stVal
- After insertion, the Attribute value will remain empty — this is normal.
- Insert valuestVal is in the I/O mapping , without its "t":
The module will automatically update the variable’s timestamp when its state changes.
