How to execute the GET_TS_EVT_M on a M580 redoundant PLC ?

How should the GET_TS_EVT_M function block be executed in a Modicon M580 Redundant system to retrieve timestamped events ?

In an M580 Redundant  system, the GET_TS_EVT_M function block must be executed only by the Primary CPU, as recommended on page 214 of the EcoStruxure Control Expert System Bloc Library attached:

The application should check the Redundant operating state before executing the function block. The call to GET_TS_EVT_M must be enabled when the local CPU is operating as the Primary CPU and disabled when the local CPU is operating as the Standby CPU.

This prevents both CPUs from executing the timestamped-event retrieval operation at the same time and avoids duplicate or inconsistent event processing.

If a switchover occurs, the former Standby CPU becomes the new Primary CPU. Once the new CPU reaches the Primary operating state, the application can resume execution of the GET_TS_EVT_M function block.

The following implementation principles should therefore be applied:

  1. Determine whether the local M580 CPU is currently the Primary CPU.
  2. Execute GET_TS_EVT_M only when the Primary status is active.
  3. Do not execute the function block on the Standby CPU.
  4. After a Redundant switchover, allow the new Primary CPU to resume the function block execution.
  5. Ensure that the function block input and output variables are managed consistently during the switchover.
