Issue:
Is ground fault protection provide by the ATS48?
Product Line:
ATS48
Resolution:
The ALTISTART48 soft start Y-range product design meets the requirements of the North American market. The soft starter provides ground fault protection through the use of three current transformers to meet equipment level protection, limiting damage to conductors and equipment on the load side of the protective element per NEC/NFPA 70, Article 230.95.
The method of ground fault detection considers the measured sum of three phase currents and signals are compared to the scaled setting of the current limitation of soft starter. The level of detection is fixed based on ground fault current (phase-to-ground) level of 25% of the product ICL rating. In such an event, the soft starter will fault in ``OLF`` mode provided the ground fault current is present for a minimum of 100ms.
